Sundevil History 1984- 1998

1984-1991
Our association with the local rugby club has been an important factor in our development. With the merger of Tsawwassen Rugby Club and Semiahmoo and the eventual move to White Rock from Tsawwassen, the Sundevils program moved forward. The merged Bayside Club has provided support to the Sundevil program, as well as providing a sound environment for our graduating players, many have gone on to achieve representative status (one at the national level).

Success on the field is measured by more than the score or the win/loss column. But yes, it’s nice to win and we have had our share! The sundevils have qualified for the prestigious Provincial Championships many times, and in 1993 they had their best finish, claiming the bronze medal in the AA Tournament.

At this time too, we began what has now become a tradition, the annual Old Boys Game. On the second Friday of each May,  past students take on the current school team in an exhibition of fast-flowing, enjoyable yet competitive, rugby. The game is usually followed by a barbeque and the annual presentation of awards.
